This page has been put up to provide a year-round, easily accessible list of all the material objects I’m currently wanting, because whenever I’m asked if there’s anything I’d particularly like for Christmas, my birthday, etc, (you know how it is?) the question itself seems to drive the answers out of my head. It’s not even something I can prepare for, since I have that kind of pesky, too-clever-by-half relatives who like to do their Christmas shopping all year round.

THE LIST

• interesting/unusual brooches and lapel studs
• absinthe spoons
• candles (as always)
• electric toothbrush (I had one but it was cheap and nasty and not rechargeable)
• Cobra Trap by Peter O’Donnell (the final book in the Modesty Blaise series – Souvenir Press hardcover 1996, paperback 2006)
• Björk’s new two-CD, two-DVD box set Voltaïc (out on Nonesuch)
• custom-made spare wheel cover for Hipparkia
• good mountain bike
• 4 or preferably 8 dining chairs – tall upright back, solid comfortable seat. Just locating some, taking me shopping and maybe chipping in on a chair or two would be an enormous help.
