nativity as nonsense
Posted by jaqi on December 11, 2011
Ladies and gerunds, I bring you (courtesy of my intrepid sister Clare) the culmination of 2000 years of history, culture, philosophy, spirituality, craft and taste… nativity scenes from around the world. Check out particularly the rubber-ducky nativity, the zombie nativity and the bacon-and-sausage nativity. And a merry and thoughtful Christmas to you all…

Having prepared myself with a fine wine and olives for the normal post-po-mo deconstruction of parthenogenisis narratives, and after three deep breaths I clicked … and sprayed the aforementioned fruit of vitis and olea all over my screen
Ta, jaqi … but I’ll send you the cleaning bill

Michael Bloody Godfrey! How marvelous of you to wander back into my world at this juncture! And God (or her real equivalent) bless the Internet for making it possible, since I see you are now in Darwin. Somehow I’m not surprised to find you festering in frontier territory… I’ll be in touch in the new year to catch up on a decade’s news. Sorry about the screenspray but IMO a good laugh is always worth a bit of a mop-up. I used to know a girl who couldn’t belly-laugh without wetting herself – I’d like to be able to say I taught her some pelvic-floor exercises but we were all too young at the time. Which is almost always the case until suddenly we are apparently too old…

Disclaimer: The fact that I sent the link to Jac in the first place does not make me in any way liable for any portion of that cleaning bill. She posted it entirely at her own risk. Besides, the reference to a “bacon-and-sausage nativity” should have warned you, now shouldn’t it?
PS. Welcome back to the insane world of Pascoes, MG. You can find a much more ordinary (some might say boring, but that’s because my blog audience contains many more conservative christians than hers does) deconstruction of those big words you used on my blog :-)

MBG do you have this blog on RSS feed? Your comment makes perfect sense if the link you clicked on was simply ‘nativity as nonsense’ (yes, very po-mo now I look at it), rather than the link in the post. And I can’t think how else you’d suddenly happen upon a recent post of mine when I haven’t posted in six months… but it must be less than six months since you started getting the feed, unless you’ve been lurking…? Tell!
